Anna B. Scott
your coach
A dance artist and movement scholar, Dr. Anna B. Scott helps scholars, doers and artists light up the world with technologies of joy. She has spent over 30 years studying, performing and using African Diaspora dance as divine medicine. In a constant state of healing from Multiple Sclerosis, she's a testimony to the power of our soles in motion.
She is certified in Somatic Activated Healing™ and appears as a guest instructor for their latest cohort. Scott holds a Ph.D. in Performance Studies from Northwestern University and regularly drops new performances around the Mid South. A lover of trees and birds, she dedicates her practice to saving the magic in our elder trees.
My work integrates movement, history and healing, bridging ancestral knowledge with the contemporary world. My performances often explore how movement impacts the sympathetic nervous system, using polymetric rhythms to transform perceptions of time and space.
I like to say that I make works that werk. What I am blessed to produce and where I produce it reverberates across any collective in which I find myself, lifting people to think at a higher frequency. When I’m in my bag, the spirit known as Alusuada arrives, making way for good people to come together to do great things, whether that be 4 folks or 1,000. My art produces possibility for the collective to go deeper, further, faster in working out root causes of their dissatisfaction while helping identify where their shared creative spirit could solve the problem.
